5 mm XPS Floor Underlay – a practical base for your flooring
This turquoise extruded polystyrene (XPS) underlay is designed for use beneath floating laminate and engineered wood flooring, provided the flooring manufacturer approves this underlay type and thickness.
The lightweight 100 × 50 cm sheets are easy to handle, cut and lay. At 5 mm thick, they form a thermally insulating layer between the subfloor and the floor covering.

Suitable flooring
This underlay is intended for compatible laminate and engineered wood floors installed using a floating method. Always follow the flooring manufacturer’s requirements for underlay material, thickness and compressive strength.
Use beneath vinyl, SPC or LVT flooring, or flooring with a built-in underlay, only with the flooring manufacturer’s explicit approval. It is not intended as a base for directly gluing down floor coverings.
Not suitable for underfloor heating
According to the manufacturer, this 5 mm XPS underlay is not suitable for underfloor heating. Its thermal insulation properties reduce heat transfer from the heating system to the floor covering.
Installation guidance
- Check the subfloor. It must be clean, dry, level and load-bearing. Correct larger irregularities before installation; this underlay does not replace subfloor levelling.
- On mineral subfloors, provide suitable moisture protection as specified by the manufacturer. The XPS sheets do not replace a required vapour control layer.
- Cut the sheets to size and lay them in a single layer, edge to edge, with staggered joints. Do not overlap the sheets.
- Install the flooring according to its installation instructions, maintaining the specified perimeter and expansion gaps.
Sales unit and quantity calculation
The displayed price is for 1 sheet covering 0.5 m².
• 1 sheet = 0.5 m².
• 2 sheets = 1 m².
• 10 sheets = 5 m².
• 20 sheets = 10 m².
Calculation: required area in m² × 2 = number of sheets needed. Round up to whole sheets and allow extra material for cutting waste.
